Determination of carbon dioxide contents in cuprate superconductors of the Y 2Ba 4Cu 6+ nO 14+ n family
Abstract
Thermoanalytical measurements (thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (DTA) coupled with mass spectroscopy) are used to determine the carbonate content in YBaCuO samples. Up to 0.1 mol carbon dioxide per formula unit, depending on the synthesis procedure, was found in the samples. Simultaneous evolution of oxygen and carbon dioxide from the samples was observed for all compounds (YBa 2Cu 3O 7-χ, YBa 2Cu 3.5O 7.5-χ and YBa 2Cu 4O 8) investigated.
