Measurements of the nuclear magnetism of liquid 3He up to 25 Tesla using a torque magnetometer.
Abstract
Precision measurements of the magnetisation curve of liquid 3He provide a way to test the various microscopic theories of this Fermi liquid. In this aim, we have developed a magnetometer, which measures a torque due to a 3He sample in a magnetic field gradient. We used this device in resistive and hybrid magnets at Grenoble and Nijmegen up to fields of 25T and at temperatures down to 50 mK. We present preliminary results on the field and temperature dependence of the magnetisation
