Generation of 21-fs millijoule-energy pulses by use of Ti:sapphire
Abstract
Chirped pulse amplification technique in Ti:sapphire based amplifier system is used to produce 21 +/- 2 fs pulses with an energy of 0.5 mJ. Use of reflective optics and short amplifier crystal minimize dispersion and nonlinear effects. Applications to high field physics, coherent and incoherent x-ray and extreme ultraviolet radiation generation are indicated.
