Luminescent materials for medical application
Abstract
Medical equipment applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging requires phosphors with dedicated luminescent properties. Polycrystalline scintillators have recently been created especially for X-ray computed tomography. High X-ray absorption, high light output, fast decay time and low afterglow are the requirements. The effect of codopants to lower the afterglow is discussed.
