Manufacture of YBa2Cu3O(7-x) superconductor by using a Neodymium:Yttrium Alumina Garnet laser
Abstract
Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductor powder was calcined by using a low-power Nd:YAG laser for raid calcination of the initial 1:2:3 mixture in an air atmosphere. This new powder processing technique greatly reduces processing time, since no furnace is required for the calcination process. In this paper the observations of bulk superconductor processed by two different techniques, i.e., by conventional and laser processing, are compared.
