Elements of fair weather electricity
Abstract
The electric fair weather field and conduction current in the lower atmosphere are primarily controlled by ions. Ions in turn are subject to parameters such as mobility, lifetime, and generation rate that vary with altitude. A physical model is described which permits theoretical prediction of the above ionic parameters as well as the electric field at altitudes from 0 to 35 km. The model obeys Ohm's law.
