Most-probable-point-locus structural reliability method
Abstract
An iteration procedure for identification of the most-probable-point (MPP) developed by Khalessi et al. (1991) is extended to perform an efficient structural reliability analysis which is suitable for integration with complicated structural analysis computer programs. The proposed methodology is capable of identifying good linearization points, a fast quadratic search algorithm, and effective convergence criteria. The accuracy of the methodology is assessed using the Hasofor, Lind, Rackwitz, and Fiessler method and the Monte Carlo simulation technique.
