An experimental study of plunging liquid jet induced air carryunder and dispersion
Abstract
This report is divided into four parts. Part-1 provides an introduction to plunging jet phenomena and summarizes the major findings of our previous research. Part-2 presents a summary of the major experimental findings obtained during at Rensselaer. Part-3 describes two proposed mechanisms responsible for air entrainment. Part-4 presents the results of two different numerical calculations, one using a Euler-Lagrangian approach and the other based on solving a full two-fluid model with a CFD code. Finally, Part-5 presents our conclusions and recommendations for future research.
