A new high-efficient microwave amplifier for space power system
Abstract
The feasibility of a high-efficiency high-power microwave amplifier satisfying the requirements of pollution-free space power supply systems is discussed. The design principles of the amplifier, which is based on a traveling wave tube with a circularly polarized field (TWT-CPF), are reviewed, and the advantages of the design are demonstrated. The discussion covers the use of a slow-wave structure, output characteristics of one-section and two-section TWT-CPF, and possible space applications of the TWT-CPF amplifier.
