HPT on EURECA - Measurement principle and first results
Abstract
The HPT (High Precision Thermostat) flown on the EURECA-mission in July 1993 to measure adsorption of SF6 on graphitized carbon back is described. It is an extremely precise temperature controlled three-stage thermostat in which the critical density is adjusted by an absolute pressure control loop. A highest presicion differential pressure control loop compensates the adsorbed volume. Measurement results show that near the critical point there is a 'desorption' rather than the expected exponential adsorption.
