A development of simple and direct scheme to calculate incompressible viscid flow by the vortex method
Abstract
In this study, a simple and direct scheme which is application of vortex method was applied to calculation of the flow around two-dimensional square section cylinder. In this scheme, the vorticity distribution on the whole surface of the body was replaced with the discrete vortex panels. The vortex panels were allowed to flow at their convective velocities, and the boundary layer separation from the body was expected to be represented naturally by their convective motion. As a result of the calculation, it was confirmed that Strouhal number, base pressure and drag coefficient were in good agreement with the experimental result.
