The space environment and its impact on spacecraft design
Abstract
An overview of the various interactions between the space environment and spacecraft subsystems is presented. Potential interactions due to the vacuum, plasma, neutral, radiation, and micrometeoroidal/orbital debris environments are discussed and related to specific spacecraft design criteria. The possibility for synergistic interactions between the various environments is studied.
