Numerical simulation of supersonic flow around a thin body in a dispersive media
Abstract
Numerical solutions of Burgers and Korteweg-de Vries equations are derived using a compact conservative scheme and an efficient banded Gaussian elimination procedure. The scheme is generalized to study the 2D supersonic flows over thin bodies. It is noted that the solution for supersonic flows around thin bodies exhibits the formation of solitons in the far field under certain conditions.
