Proceedings of the Ad Hoc Workshop on Ceramics for Li/FeS2 batteries
Abstract
Representatives from industry, the U.S. Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC), DOE, national laboratories, and other government agencies met to develop recommendations and actions for accelerating the development of ceramic components critical to the successful introduction of the Li/FeS2 bipolar battery for electric vehicles. Most of the workshop is devoted to electrode materials, bipolar designs, separators, and bipolar plates. The bulk of this document is viewgraphs and is divided into: ceramics, USABC overview, SAFT's Li/FeS2 USABC program, bipolar Li/FeS2 component development, design requirements for bipolar plates, separator design requirements, compatibility of ceramic insulators with lithium, characterization of MgO for use in separators, resistivity measurements of separators, sintered AlN separators for LiMS batteries, etc.
