New materials based on LaBGeO5-Nd(3+) compounds for solid state lasers with diode-laser pumping
Abstract
Results of lasing experiments are reported for LaBGeO5-Nd(3+) crystal and glass samples pumped by the emission of GaAlAs diodes. In the experiments, single-mode continuous-wave and quasi-continuous-wave stimulated emission of Nd(3+) ions was obtained at room temperature from both crystal and glass LaBGeO5 samples. It is noted that the reported emission characteristics can be significantly improved by optimizing the geometrical and spectroscopic parameters of the active elements as well as the pumping scheme.
