Electromagnetic-wave scattering by a body of revolution with a multilayer coating in the quasi-optical domain
Abstract
A geometrical-optics approach is used to solve the problem of electromagnetic-wave scattering by an optically dense body of revolution with a multilayer absorbing coating. A recursive algorithm is developed for constructing the field ray pattern for a multilayer body whose interfaces are described by arbitrary smooth functions. The solution obtained is compared with calculations via rigorous method and with experimental data for a sphere, a circular cylinder, and an ogival body.
