Emissivity of a statistically irregular surface with allowance for multiple reflections
Abstract
The brightness temperature of the thermal radio emission of a homogeneous half-space with a statistically irregular boundary is investigated in the approximation of geometrical optics. For shallow irregularities, analytical expressions for emissivity are obtained with allowance for one-sided and two-sided shading in order to clarify the effect of multiple reflections on the brightness temperature. Calculations are carried out for a two-dimensional surface.
