Fast selective chain oxidation in YBa 2Cu 3O 6+ x
Abstract
The oxidation kinetics of the tetragonal 123 phase were investigated in the temperature range of 150-300°C in pure oxygen. The oxidation process was found to be isokinetic in the temperature range 240-300°C. At lower temperatures other mechanisms have to be considered. The results enable not only the description of the oxidation kinetics, but also allow one to deduce conditions for selective oxygen doping of the chain sites in 123.
