Study of beta Lyrad spectrum. Matter transfer and circumstellar structures in presence of the loser's magnetic field.
Abstract
The principal results of investigations of the circumstellar structures of the interacting binary system Beta Lyr are presented. They are based on a study of dynamical and energy parameters of the emission absorption lines H-alpha, He I 6678, 7065 AA, and Si II 6347, 6371 AA, obtained from CCD observations with high spectral resolution and S/N ratio during 1985-1991 with the 2.6-m Shain telescope in the Crimea. Radial velocities of the main components of these lines - emission peaks, absorptions superposed on them, and emission centers - are measured. The variation of Vr curves with phase is found to be more or less correlated with the strength of the loser's magnetic field. The outflow of matter from the loser's surface takes place along the magnetic field vector, especially around the pole of the magnetic field turned toward the gainer.
