Space Station Freedom avionics - Architecture and evolution
Abstract
This paper describes the architecture of the Space Station Freedom (SSF) avionics, and describes the evolution of this avionics during the SSF build-up sequence. This paper will provide an overview of the architecture of the entire set of the SSF avionics from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), and the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), including: the data management system, communications and tracking system, guidance navigation and control system, and electrical power distribution. There will also be a description of the avionics controlled systems such as the thermal control and the environmental and life support systems.
