The sensitivity of an optical fiber holographic interferometer
Abstract
A sensitivity check of a fiber optic holographic interferometer, which is to be used to study crystal growth and the concentration or thermal gradients in transparent inorganic and biological solution, for the detection of the refractive index, is described. The sensitivity concerning the measurement of the change in refractive index was evaluated by using different glasses with known refractive indices in a series of holograms. Limited by the test pieces it is stated that the sensitivity of the change in refractive index can be at least 0.0001/mm.
