Mixed space-time finite element formulation for linear dynamic response of beams
Abstract
One of the most widely used and successful numerical method is the finite element method. Although this powerful computational methodology has been frequently used in the spatial domain, solution strategies of temporal problems have not made frequent use of finite element method until the last decade. In this paper, a mixed formulation for simultaneous space-time element discretization is outlined and preliminary results are presented.
