Atlas of stellar spectra. MK standards - spectroscopic binaries - peculiar stars.
Abstract
Chapters I, II and III are devoted to the description of the atlas; the first concerns the MK standards, the second the spectroscopic binaries and the third the peculiar spectra. All stars are listed in a table in order of increasing HD number. The ten columns of this table provide successively: HD number; name or HR number; the spectral classification for MK standards; the sheet number on which figures the spectrum (or spectra) of the object; the equatorial coordinates for equinox 2000; the V magnitude; the color index B-V; the projected rotational velocity V sin i; informations regarding binarity and finally notes in which the authors provide their classification for the non-standard stars or more detailed classifications for certain MK standards. For some stars, remarks re the spectral peculiarities are given after the table. In Chapter IV the authors provide a summary of the technical data re the spectrograph BS Cass as well as a plan of the instrument. Chapter V finally provides the criteria used for classification. The sheets constituting the atlas were made from positive copies of the film, enlarged ten times. The spectral range covered is approximately: λ3800 - 4700 Å for stars of types O to G, λ3900 - 4800 Å for stars of types K and M. On each sheet the following items were noted: name of the star or its HD number, spectral type, luminosity class, identification of the most important lines used for the classification.
