Adaptive compliance control for docking actuator
Abstract
An effort has been made to develop an actuator system for spacecraft docking which adaptively adjusts its compliance. The system encompasses variably controlled actuators for energy absorption, compliance control, and docking-interface adjustment. An electromechanical actuation system has been deemed most suitable. Attention is given to different levels of kinetic energy of the docking target, as determined by a real-time sensor.
