Theory of transversely inhomogeneous beam-plasma amplifiers
Abstract
Linear and nonlinear theories of electromagnetic wave amplification in a magnetized transversely inhomogeneous beam-plasma system of the general kind are examined. The field amplitudes, efficiencies of beam energy conversion to radiation energy, and radiation power are determined analytically and numerically as a function of beam current and system geometry. A classification of nonlinear amplification regimes is presented.
