Abstract
Consideration is given to development of a wide-field-of-view, unobscured, three-mirror anastigmat; infrared systems for helicopter pilotage, an infrared portable calibration unit, the target and background simulation for seeker scenarios; an IR surveillance system for surface-to-air defense; a system for target identification in infrared images by means of discrete contour transform and neural networks, the night vision goggles resolution performance at low contrast levels, and an IR transmission measurement in the atmosphere. Attention is also given to predicting the performance of IR staring arrays, nonuniformity corrections for a spectrally agile sensor, an accurate IR scene simulation by means of a microlithographically deposited substrate, low-power multiplexed lead salt arrays, an airborne IR point-detection system, design of a FIR Fabry-Perot spectrometer for astronomy, IR transmission measurements of highly curved optical components, and the window-heating effects on airborne IR system calibration.
