Strange Baryon Production in 27.5 Gev/c Proton - Interactions.
Abstract
A study of strange baryon production in 27.5 GeV/c (sqrt{s} = 7.3 GeV) proton -proton interactions is presented. The production of Lambda, Xi^-, and Omega^- baryons is studied in fully reconstructed events belonging to topologies with a single strange baryon and different multiplicities. Low multiplicity topologies are dominated by single diffraction dissociation reactions, whereas high multiplicity topologies display little evidence for diffractive production processes. Results are presented with the aid of a phenomenological model in a manner independent of any underlying theory.
