2-µm laser with a composite Ng:YAG-Ho:YAG active medium
Abstract
Solid state holmium and thulium lasers are often used in medicine because of the high efficiency of interaction of their radiation with biological tissue, their high power, and the possibility of the radiative transport along flexible silica waveguides to the surgery area. In this study, the possibility of multipass radiation amplification by optically pumped Nb:YAG crystals to improve the output parameters of the pulsed periodic laser is examined.
