Electron and Proton Wide-Angle Spectrometer (EPAS) on the CRRES Spacecraft
Abstract
The CRRES spacecraft's EPAS investigates the dynamics and solar activity-dependence of the natural radiation environment by measuring 3D particle distributions in the 21-285 keV range for electrons and 37 ke-3.2 MeV for protons. EPAS is able to detect electrons simultaneously from 10 directions, and protons from four directions; its 3D directional distributions are converted into a pitch-angle distribution in view of magnetic field measurements.
