An experimental research on impingement/film combined cooling of combustor wall
Abstract
As a potential way of gas turbine combustor wall cooling, the impingement/film combined cooling (IFCC) has been investigated since it can enhance the cooling efficiency. A two-dimensional experimental combustor system has been developed to model the practical operation of the gas turbine combustor. The research focuses on the comparison of the cooling efficiency between IFCC and film cooling and the effect of the impingement plate structure, such as the arrangement scheme of impingement holes, the impingement hole diameter, and the pitch between holes on heat transfer. The results of the research indicate that a reasonably designed IFCC is a better way to enhance the cooling efficiency without increasing too much the complexity of combustor wall structure.
