On ELF transmission in the earth-ionosphere waveguide
Abstract
The propagation constant for ELF propagation in the earth ionosphere waveguide is determined analytically. The derivation carried out for a planar model, with the earth's surface impedance Zg not less than 0, confirms the important result obtained earlier by Greifinger and Greifinger (1978) in the limit Zg = 0. The present method avoids the use of auxiliary potentials.
