Relationship between the velocity of plasma transport and electron density in the near-midday ionospheric F2-region
Abstract
It is shown that the continuity equation for the distribution of O(+) ions relating the plasma transport velocity and the atomic oxygen concentration has, in the near-midday period, several solutions with respect to velocity determined by the value of the O(+) ion flux at a height of 600 km. This equation is also shown to have a unique solution with respect to the O(+) concentration for a given vertical profile of the transport velocity which does not depend on the flux of the atomic oxygen ions.
