Application of multipoint measurements for flow characterization
Abstract
Some of the possibilities for inferring the structure of complicated flows from simultaneous measurements at many points are reviewed. Conditional sampling, pseudoflow visualization, stochastic estimation, and the proper orthogonal decomposition are briefly reviewed and illustrated by example. Resolution criteria for multipoint spatial arrays are proposed that minimize the possibilities for misinterpreting the data.
