Integrated optics for an interferometric link.
Abstract
Recently developed infrared integrated optics have enabled us to construct a system which can transform a pair of conventional, existing telescopes into an efficient interferometric pair. The system is relocatable, if not yet fully "portable". Once the main difficulty of injecting starlight into a 6.5 μm fiber is overcome, delicate interferometric functions are done in a straightforward way, and give data that can easily be calibrated.
