A Navier-Stokes simulation of vortex shedding from square cylinder in unconfined domain
Abstract
The paper develops a Navier-Stokes solver based on a pressure velocity formulation for calculating a laminar separated flow around a square cylinder in an unconfined domain. For calculating pressure, the method uses a combination of a pressure Poisson equation and a pressure correction term. Steady state vortex shedding is generally obtained after about 10,000 time steps. Results are presented for Reynolds numbers of 150 and 250.
