ROSAT - early results.
Abstract
The general scientific objectives of ROSAT are to perform (1) the first all sky surveys using imaging X-ray and EUV telescopes and (2) detailed investigations of interesting sources in a guest investigator programme. The survey operations commenced in August 1990. A glimpse of what can be achieved by pointed observations was obtained during the calibration and verification measurements in the early phase of the mission (June/July 1990). The author presents a brief summary of the results obtained with the X-ray telescope before January 1990.
