The A/ A max Test: Predictions for a Uniform Disk Model
Abstract
If the BATSE instrument is a few times more sensitive than previously flown detectors, the value of (sin-squared b) measured by BATSE may be in agreement with a model in which the gamma-ray bursts are distributed uniformly in a disk. The value of V/V(max) predicted by that model is higher than the one reported by BATSE, but the statistical error is hard to assess when the actual value is different from 0.5. A two dimensional analog of the V/V(max) test would be more useful in testing disk models.
