Observation of coupling between stimulated Raman and Brillouin diffusion
Abstract
The Stokes and anti-Stokes components of stimulated Raman diffusion are investigated. The frequencies of these components are symmetric to the fundamental frequency of the laser, and their frequency fluctuations are a function of the density and electronic temperature of the plasma. The anti-Stokes component results from the diffusion of an incident photon in the plasma wave excited by the Raman instability. It is seen that, no matter the geometry of the Raman decomposition, the anti-Stokes component is always emitted forward.
