Direct Simulation Monte Carlo with ionization and radiation
Abstract
The Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method is applied to a 10 km/s flow at 0.1 torr. The assumptions used to model plasmas and electronic excitation with DSMC are investigated and new models for these processes are proposed. The results from the new modeling techniques are compared with results obtained using the previous models and the significant differences are discussed.
