Calculation of the turbulent viscosity coefficient
Abstract
The currently used method for calculating the turbulent viscosity coefficient, which is used for determining the friction stress in a turbulent boundary layer, is briefly reviewed, and the sources of error are identified. A new expression for the turbulent viscosity coefficient is derived, and its validity and accuracy are demonstrated.
