Mixing and CP-violation in K and B-mesons: A lattice QCD point of view
Abstract
The neutral K-antineutral K and neutral B-antineutral B mixing is analyzed on the basis of experimental results and theoretical lattice determination of the relevant matrix elements. A top mass larger than 140 GeV and f(sub B) equal or greater than 200 MeV is found. These results suggest a Charge conjugation and Space inversion (CP) violating asymmetry in B decays to J/psi + K(sub S) much larger than previously estimated. The corresponding theoretical prediction for epsilon'/epsilon for which rather large experimental and theoretical uncertainties still exist is reported. The basic definitions and formulae for the calculation of epsilon, R(sub d) and epsilon(prime) are given. The determination of the real angles from semileptonic data is discussed. The calculation of the Wilson coefficients is illustrated. Short distance Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) corrections are evaluated. The B parameters, from lattice calculations, are presented.
