Degenerate cross-phase-modulation and four-wave-mixing for pulse compression and amplification of ultrashort laser pulses in fiber optical communication systems
Abstract
Degenerate-cross-phase-modulation process can compress the pulse duration of a weak probe pulse by a combination of cross-phase-modulation with group velocity dispersion and amplify the intensity by degenerate four-wave-mixing process. This technique which compresses and amplifies ultrashort laser pulses without the use of gratings or prisms can be applied to the future optical fiber based signal modulation, communication and computation systems.
