TDMA satellite communication systems for ISDN services
Abstract
A time division multiple access (TDMA) satellite communication system is proposed, suitable for integrated satellite and terrestrial services covering both basic interface and primary interface services. To provide these services economically and efficiently, the proposed system employs demand assignment technology for each data burst and a transmitting and receiving transponder (carrier) hopping TDMA scheme. Moreover, to realize cost-effective transmission and subscriber lines and increase reliability of TDMA terminals, major functions of TDMA terminals have been implemented in various types of integrated circuits. The developed TDMA system which provides basic and primary subscriber transmission lines will be in commercial use from mid-1991.
