An asymptotic expansion of an electromagnetic field in the velocity of a caustic in the form of simple waves
Abstract
Solutions of a simple wave are found for Maxwell's equations. Based on these solutions the method employed to construct an asymptotic solution in the vicinity of the caustic which has either cylindrical or cosine symmetry is demonstrated. The effect of the waveform of a simple wave on the field magnitude at the caustic is defined.
