Heat diffusion at a micronic scale
Abstract
This paper presents several thermal images at a micronic scale obtained using a photothermal microscope. The experimental set-up is based on the modulated laser-induced photoreflectance. The spatial resolution is achieved, optically by focusing the pump and probe beams with a microscope, and thermally by working at modulation frequencies larger than 1 MHz. The phase images are thermal maps that reveal the local variations of the thermal diffusivity and the thermal barriers.
