Oscillations of a cylindrical system of two immiscible liquids, neglecting gravity
Abstract
The paper examines a system of two ideal incompressible immiscible liquids placed between two infinitely long rigid cylinders with parallel generatrices, with the effect of gravity neglected and interfacial tension playing a dominant role. In equilibrium the separation surface is a circular cylinder. It is shown that, in general, small oscillations of the liquid system around this equilibrium position do not arise, but that they are possible when the two rigid cylinders are coaxial circular cylinders.
