Noise in a dc SQUID with a floating working point
Abstract
The noise characteristics of a dc SQUID with a floating working point are investigated. Formulas are obtained for the slope of the conversion of the input signal and the noise coefficient as a function of the bias current, the amplitude of the modulating flux, and the constant magnetization flux. Attention is also given to the problem of the introduction of additional noise associated with fluctuations of bias current through the SQUID. It is concluded that a dc SQUID with a floating working point in the frequency conversion regime has low residual noise and a sufficiently high conversion coefficient.
