Analytical and numerical modeling of a three-dimensional viscous shock layer on blunt bodies
Abstract
Based on the approximate solution of equations of a three-dimensional hypersonic viscous shock layer, an analytical expression is obtained for determining heat flows and friction stress on the lateral surface of blunt bodies for low and moderate Re numbers with allowance for slip effects and a temperature discontinuity at the surface. For flows with moderate and high Re numbers, a simple formula is obtained for the surface distribution of heat flow relative to its value at the stagnation point. The formula is dependent on the body geometry only.
