The luminosity function of quasars in a merge model
Abstract
The luminosity function of active galactic nuclei (quasars) is calculated within the framework of a phenomenological model. It is assumed that the activity is governed by accretion onto a compact object in the nucleus while accretion is due to angular momentum compensation during the merge of spiral galaxies.
