An accumulated long-lived light echo and optical memory
Abstract
Optimal conditions for the stimulated emission of signals of an accumulated long-lived light echo in a LaF3:Pr(3+) crystal (the 3H4 - 3P0 resonant transition) are studied with the aim of producing dynamic optical memory on its basis. The dependence of the intensity of these signals on the number of identical pulse pairs is obtained experimentally and analyzed. The metastable state lifetime is estimated.
